There are many and varied reasons why people attend individual therapy from talking out an issue that's currently bothering you or you want to deal with some long-standing issues that don't seem to change.  You may also wish to come for a few sessions or many, the choice is yours.  Arranging an initial session to discuss your concerns is always a good place to start.....

Couple Therapy

If your relationship seems to be stuck and going around a round-a-bout with little positive change happening, couple therapy can be a move in the right direction.  Therapy can promote greater awareness and understanding of what the issues really are for the couple so change may start to happen in the right direction.  

Anxiety Therapy

Many individuals have anxiety - it's a part of life and is necessary.  Anxiety is when our nervous system is aroused and is useful for fighting or fleeing a dangerous situation.  However for many the nervous system can be aroused when no danger is present but there is a perception of danger and when this happens chronically, then it may cause problems.   

 

The symptoms of anxiety can be many and varied from medical issues to avoidance of situations, places and people.  Seeking therapy is one of the first steps towards overcoming anxiousness that may be causing problems and difficulties for the person.   

Emotional Eating

For some, food is not just a source of fuel for the body but can also be a source of comfort.  This comfort eating really does feel good.  It can ease the negatives of a stressful situation where one can temporarily feel better.  However, when this form of comfort eating continues over time, it can cause problems, eg weight gain and health concerns etc.  One may then decide to go on an healthy eating plan and this can be of assistance.  However many don't realise that it's a two-pronged approach involving a healthy eating plan as well as dealing with the emotional aspects.  When there is only the eating plan side of the equation the individual may go up and down in their weight.  However, by including individual therapy, this can assist with the individual's overall goals of maintaining a healthy weight in the long-term.
